2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC vs 2018 Lexus NX

Serving North Olmsted, Cleveland, and Beachwood, OH

Small crossover SUVs, at their best, provide you with excellent performance, utility, safety and perhaps a touch of luxury. Two leading luxurious SUVs are the2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC Class (encompassing the GLC 300, GLC 43 and the GLC 63) and the 2018 Lexus NX 300. These models draw customers by their commitment to engineering, value and comfort. We’d like you to test-drive both, because we’re confident you’ll prefer the Mercedes-Benz GLC as the better vehicle and better value.

Performance

The GLC Class standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 with 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 9-speed paddle-shifting automatic transmission that sends power to the back wheels or all four. The Lexus NX comes with a 2.0-liter turbo-4 delivering 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. You’ll have to make do with a 6-speed automatic on the NX. If you need more power, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 43 is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 outputting 362 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Need more still? Then you need the GLC 63 and its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pushing out 469 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Safety

Both the GLC and the NX come standard with seat-belt pretensioners and a full set of airbags: driver, passenger, front head curtain, front side, and rear head curtain. But the Mercedes-Benz also gives you a second-row side airbag and front airbag deactivation via a Child Seat Detection System. The GLC safety features include Rear Parking Aid with Camera, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Crosswind Assist, Lane-Keeping Assist, Pre-Safe Distronic Plus Intelligent Cruise Control, Variable Assisted Steering and Active Blind-Spot Monitor. Lexus NX provides only some of these safety features.

Features

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Class gives you features that are not standard or not available on the Lexus NX. Standard GLC 300 features not found on the NX 300 include ventilated rear disc brakes, automatic adaptive variable suspension, 18-inch wheels, genuine wood trim, front dual power lumbar support, front power memory seats, in-glass radio antenna, electronic trunk lid, locking fuel filler, remote decklid and trunk releases, memory adjustable exterior mirrors, universal garage door opener, twin halogen headlights, rain sensor wipers and auto-dimming rearview mirror. GLC options unavailable on the NX include automatic load-leveling, power roof sunshade, and a cargo net.
